February was a busy month
around Brunswick Cycling Club, with plenty happening both on and off the track. The latest edition of Apple Crumble – Another Slice was our our most successful yet, with each grade hotly contested. The weather delivered a real mix, most riders raced under a hot sun, while the junior grade experienced a few brief showers, thankfully avoiding the mud bath we had last time. Keep an eye on our socials for details of the next installment. There’s still lots of racing ahead too, with several ACES rounds remaining, and of course our famous Junior Clinic Club Champs and Family Fun Day at the end of March. We always enjoy seeing riders turn up in fancy dress for what is consistently a wonderful celebration of our youngest members.
Brunswick Cycling Club riders also flew the flag proudly at the State Track Championships a few weekends ago, delivering an outstanding set of results. State titles were earned by:
Georgie Turnbull – Girls U11 IP, TT, and Sprint
Ralph Hopkins – Boys U11 IP
Rhett Dempster – Boys U11 Sprint and TT
Aziz Kirmizi – Boys U13 IP
Jed Dempster – Boys U13 Sprint and TT
Emila Jirovcova – Women U15 Sprint and TT
Erin Normoyle – Women Masters 3 TT
Genevieve Jordan – Women Masters 5 Sprint and TT
Damian Preshaw – Men Masters 8 Sprint
Congratulations to all riders who competed, an excellent showing across all categories.
Adding to an already busy February, we’re thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our junior riders who have been selected to represent Victoria at the 2026 AusCycling Junior Track National Championships in Brisbane this April. Brunswick CC is exceptionally proud to see such strong representation across both the Under‑17 and Under‑15 squads.
Brunswick riders selected for the Victorian Junior State Team include:
Omer Kirmizi – U17 Boys
Maximus Moore – U17 Boys
Nicola Morris – U17 Girls
Michael Moulds – U15 Boys
Asha Crofts – U15 Girls
Emilia Jirovcova – U15 Girls
We look forward to cheering them on as they take to the boards at the Anna Meares Velodrome and proudly fly the Brunswick colours on the national stage.
Around the club, we are exploring the purchase of a new motorbike to replace our long‑serving and much‑loved machine, which has benefited from years of care under Cam but is now ready for a lower‑maintenance successor. We’ll keep you updated as this progresses. We’re also in discussions with AusCycling about hosting Foundation Track Instructor and Coach courses, and encourage anyone interested to reach out.
You may also have heard early discussions about a potential AusCycling Special General Meeting, driven by some interstate clubs seeking to revert AusCycling to a federated model. Brunswick Cycling Club does not support this direction; we consider it a backward step and believe better outcomes can be achieved by working constructively within the current structure rather than returning to the previous model. We’ll share more information as it becomes available.
As always, ride safe and have fun.
