Policies and Governance
Brunswick Cycling Club operates under the authority of AusCycling, the national governing body for cycling in Australia.
According to our Constitution, the Club’s Office Bearers are:

Treasurer
These positions are elected by members at the Annual General Meeting, held each October. The Office Bearers, together with elected general committee members, form the General Committee, which represents members and oversees the management and operation of the Club.
Club meetings take place at the Harrison Street Velodrome on the first Monday of every month.

Our Child Safety Commitment
Brunswick Cycling Club INC is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all Children and Young People that are involved in our sport. Our policies and procedures seek to address risks to Child safety and to establish Child safe culture and practices.

Safety First: We prioritise the safety and well-being of children and young people in all aspects of cycling.

Inclusion and Respect: We foster a culture of inclusion, respect, and diversity for all participants.

Culturally Safe Environment: We create a welcoming and safe environment for children and young people from all backgrounds.

Empowered Staff and Volunteers: We ensure our staff and volunteers are trained and equipped to uphold child safety standards and maintain a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC).

Ongoing Training and Support: We provide ongoing training and support to staff and volunteers to ensure they possess the necessary skills and knowledge.

Open Communication: We encourage open communication and participation from children, young people, and their parents.

Mandatory Reporting: We ensure all staff and volunteers understand their responsibility to report any suspected child abuse.

Continuous Improvement: We are committed to regularly reviewing and improving our policies and practices.
Child Safety Officer – Role Description
The Child Safety Officer (CSO) is responsible for promoting and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all children and young people within the club. This role is central to the club’s commitment to upholding the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and relevant state-based child protection laws. Key Responsibilities:

Act as the primary contact for any child safety concerns, disclosures, or incidents.

Support members, volunteers, and staff to understand and follow the club’s child safety policies and procedures.

Ensure all relevant screening (e.g., Working with Children Checks) is completed and up to date.

Assist in the delivery of child safety education and awareness activities across the club.

Promote child-friendly communication and encourage participation of children in safety-related discussions.

Maintain confidential records and report concerns in line with club policy and legal requirements.

Work collaboratively with club management and external agencies when needed.
