Rain, Mud, and Smiles: Apple Crumble Delivers Again

On Sunday, 30th November, riders gathered at Petty’s Orchard, for the second serving of the Apple Crumble gravel crit and what a day it turned out to be! The weather was relentless, with rain turning the course into a true mud bath. The course resembled more cyclocross than gravel, with slippery corners and deep puddles challenging even the most seasoned riders.

Despite the conditions, the atmosphere was exceptional. Riders, supporters, and volunteers embraced the chaos with smiles, laughter, and plenty of grit. The sense of community was palpable, proof that a little rain can’t dampen the spirit of the local cycling community.

And let’s not forget the day’s most unexpected moment: junior rider Ralph's mid-race encounter with a kangaroo! Thankfully, both Ralph and roo were unharmed!

A huge thank you to our incredible supporters, Pedla, Knog, and Wondercross for making this event possible and to all the volunteers who helped make the event a success on the day. Club member and resident photographer David Park was busy capturing the suffering on film all day, check out some photos below or the full gallery on our website.

The fun doesn’t stop here! Mark your calendars for Apple Crumble – The Feast Continues, coming in early February. Expect more gravel, more grit, and maybe better weather (no promises).

Stay tuned for details and registration.
