At all events, it’s important that we show our true strength as a club by supporting one another and encouraging riders from all teams. Brunswick has long been known for its welcoming, community‑focused culture, and with our strong presence across events, good sportsmanship and positive encouragement from all members remain essential.
AusCycling Governance Update
The Special General Meeting (SGM) was held on 23 April, following a request from member clubs to consider the removal of the current AusCycling Board Director and Chair. The Brunswick committee recently voted to cement our position against the removal. Following discussion and debate at the SGM, the resolution was unsuccessful, meaning the Director will remain in place until the upcoming Annual General Meeting. Clubs are encouraged to stay engaged in the ongoing governance process and members can read the full AusCycling statement and meeting outcome here.
I am pleased to share a long‑awaited improvement to our operations: the transition from TidyHQ to JustGo as the club’s membership platform. I recently attended a club forum where the fundamentals of this change were discussed. JustGo offers a range of features not currently available in TidyHQ, and as we become familiar with the platform, it will significantly improve both event organisation and membership management. The rollout of JustGo is scheduled to take place over a three‑day period, concluding on 15 June and further updates will be shared as they become available.
Road season is truly in full swing and it was another busy weekend of racing for Brunswick, with many riders proudly representing the club colors at the Damion Drapac Anzac Day Classic. Congratulations to all who raced and reached the podium, and a special mention to Isabel Muscat, recipient of the Junior Spirit Award.
Our first Apple Crumble in the series, (or buffet) was held on Sunday and was another standout success, with riders taking on the rugged terrain at Petty’s Orchards. This edition marked our biggest and most successful event to date, with 73 riders lining up across the grades. It was fantastic to see so many new and returning faces, with competitive racing in every category on what proved to be a welcome rain‑free day.
The full Apple Crumble series is now live on EntryBoss, with the next round scheduled for 23 May. Riders of all levels are encouraged to get involved and be part of what continues to be a highlight of the club calendar.
Thank you to everyone who continues to contribute to the strength and spirit of our club, whether racing, volunteering, supporting from the sidelines, or simply showing up. It’s this collective effort that keeps Brunswick such a welcoming and successful community. I look forward to seeing many of you at upcoming events and activities.
Cheers,
Ben
